Special inspections are the monitoring of the materials and workmanship that are critical to the integrity of the building structure to assure compliance with approved plans and specifications as well as with the prevailing building code. Tectonic provides this service by professionals with highly specialized skills and qualifications. Tectonic is one of the first firms to be accredited as a Class 1 Special Inspection Agency to perform every special inspection category by the NYC Department of Buildings.

As an added value of our services to our clients, Tectonic maintains two state-of-the-art, licensed materials testing laboratories in Astoria, Queens (NYC) and Newburgh, New York. Our laboratories comply with rigorous testing procedures using modern, reliable and routinely calibrated equipment by experienced, qualified personnel under the direction of a licensed Professional Engineer. Tectonic is qualified to conduct testing of Hot Mix Asphalt, Soil, Aggregate, Sprayed Fire-Resistive Material, Portland Cement Concrete and Masonry. Our licensed laboratories utilize its proprietary materials database; an automated data reporting system which distributes our laboratory testing results directly to the client.
