Tectonic is providing comprehensive construction management, field inspection, and code-required special inspection and testing services for Contract #1 of the $6 billion Second Avenue Subway Phase 2 project. At its completion, the new line will be 8.5-miles long extending from 125th Street to Hanover Square in Lower Manhattan.
This project represents a significant early-works undertaking, requiring extensive utility relocations, underpinning / strengthening of adjacent residential and commercial buildings, maintenance of traffic (including bike lane relocations), implementation of an extensive construction monitoring system, and complex construction staging in a densely populated neighborhood.
As the prime construction manager for Contract #1, Tectonic’s multi-disciplinary team of engineers and construction professionals are responsible for providing daily resident engineering and inspection services, performing safety and quality oversight, executing intricate daily inspection reports and in-depth photo/video logs, coordination with all applicable utilities and authorities having jurisdiction, expediting permits on the MTA’s behalf, and providing other reporting and oversight functions on this critical project.
Tectonic’s special inspectors on this assignment are integrated within the construction management team, which allows real-time inspection oversight and coordination to verify compliance with all quality standards, identify deficiencies, and ensure all work is built to the highest safety standards despite the immense logistical challenges.
