The $77.5 million infrastructure investment to replace the 70-year-old PIP Helix is critical to the New Jersey approach to the George Washington Bridge. The Helix serves as a critical transportation link for commuters from Northern New Jersey and Rockland County who are bound for New York City.
Tectonic provided geotechnical and construction engineering services to Judlau in all aspects of the temporary roadway and bridges and support services to construct the new bridges.
A complete dry hydrant system was designed to provide emergency services a water supply to fight any fires and to protect the temporary bridges and related infrastructure for the important PIP Helix connection to the George Washington Bridge on the New Jersey side. The system was designed to account for the excessive movement experience due to the temporary truss structures under heavy truck loads.
