Orange County Department of Public Works CR 32 (Mill Street) Evaluation

Tectonic performed geotechnical services to investigate the root causes of a slope failure along Moodna Creek and Orange County Route 32.

The observed slope failure is located on a slope west of the southbound lane of Mill Street (County Route 32), which is located between the roadway and the east bank of Moodna Creek in the Town of Cornwall, NY. The slope has a total height of approximately 96 feet between the stream bank and the western edge of Mill Street, over a total length of approximately 178 feet with an average slope of approximately 1.9H to 1V. Observations show that the face of the slope varies, with the slope angle near the head scarp approaching a near-vertical condition.
