Tectonic provided Engineering design services for the installation of new Head End, Sub Head End along with a Wireless system including public WiFi at the Jamaica Station, NY. The wireless system provides coverage along the Jamaica Station platforms and Suthphin Boulevard that runs under the station.
Tectonics’ Scope of work included Mechanical, Structural, Electrical, Fire Protection design for the Jamaica Station DAS and WiFi system. Tectonic provided extensive site surveys, full project construction drawings to include equipment and antenna layouts, structural antenna mounts, as well as fiber and coax routing plans on the platforms. The project also involved the design of a 2000 square feet primary Head End room to house the DAS equipment for all Carriers, including HVAC, Fire protection and redundant power supplies.
Tectonic also provided Construction Administrative services such as RFI and shop drawing reviews, regular onsite meetings with contractor to resolve field issues during construction, attend conference calls and in person meetings with LIRR and client.
The installation of the Wireless system and Wi-Fi at Jamaica Station comes after Boingo brought cellular coverage to the LIRR Atlantic Branch Terminal and tunnels.
