Roosevelt High School Synthetic Turf Field

- 2017 - 2018
Under a larger project to renovate the campus, educational, and performing arts elements of this circa-1924 facility, Yonkers Public Schools sought to improve the athletic opportunities for students as well. Located along Central Avenue in the densely developed Tuckahoe section of the City, the existing natural turf infield of the 400 meter running track was the only on-campus option for daily physical education, football, boys/girls soccer, baseball, softball, and boys/girls lacrosse. The entire infield was renovated with a new high-performance, multi-sport, synthetic turf field able to support the rigors of continuous play and fully integrated with a new perimeter drain system for the existing track. The new turf facility was
designed to accommodate four NFHS-competition-level sports (football, soccer, and boys/girls lacrosse).
Tectonic performed the complete surveying, subsurface investigation (in support of the underground stormwater management and water quality
improvements), site/civil design, athletic facility planning and design, SPDES permitting (SWPPP, SHPO, endangered species consulting) and compliance inspections for the new facility. Construction administration support services were also provided to the project Architect and District Construction Manager.
