Tectonic has been retained for a three (3) year term contract with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission performing engineering design services and structural analyses for communication towers. Services include:

Tectonic is providing these services for self-supporting towers and monopoles located throughout the nation.

Consolidated Edison Transmission Tower Analysis

Tectonic was retained to provide project coordination and design services for over 40 transmission line structures.

Provided detailed structural analyses of the existing towers to evaluate capacity to support the proposed installation of antennas by various telecommunications providers, as well as for additional equipment required by Consolidated Edison. The services provided included the structural analysis of each tower, preparation of engineering reports, design of antenna mounts, cable attachments, and structural modifications, and preparation of construction drawings. Reinforcement design of the towers as needed to satisfy the requirements of current codes and standards, including bills of material and as-builts.

The work included Consolidated Edison’s and current NESC loading conditions, as well as the recent recommendations of the New York State Public Service Commission.

Programs used include PLS tower.

ConEdison Transmission Towers F-10 and F-49 Modifications

Tectonic was retained to provide structural engineering services for the proposed upgrade of two existing four-circuit electrical transmission towers that bridge the Hudson River in New York.

The existing towers were evaluated for their capacity to support the proposed installation of antennas by various telecommunications providers, as well as for additional equipment required by Consolidated Edison. The services provided have included a structural analysis of the tower, preparation of an engineering report, design of structural modifications, and preparation of construction drawings, as well as detailed steel fabrication and erection drawings, including bills of material.

The work included incorporating current NESC and Con Edison loading conditions, as well as the recent recommendations of the New York State Public Service Commission, all of which are more stringent than the criteria used at the time of the original design and construction. The towers are being reinforced to satisfy the requirements of current codes and standards.

Verizon/Alltel Conversion Sites and Special Projects

Tectonic was exclusively retained by Verizon to conduct site audits for existing Alltel Sites purchased by Verizon. There are over 400 sites in the region. Tectonic’s services included tower inventories, tower analysis, structural design, site design drawings for construction and zoning, due diligence and construction oversight. Sites are located in Virginia, North Carolina, and West Virginia.

Program Management of Telco Site Development

Tectonic has been exclusively retained by American Water (AW) since 2002 to provide program management for the development of wireless telecommunications facilities on their water tanks, rooftops and rawland properties. AW has over two thousand sites located in 27 states including Arizona, Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and West Virginia.

Tectonic’s responsibilities include lease negotiations, site visits, engineering design and construction documents, construction compliance oversight, as-built drawings, and coordination of homeland security access requirements.

Verizon Wireless Turnkey Services

Tectonic has been retained by Verizon Wireless since 1997 to provide Turnkey Services including Project Management, Site Acquisition, Engineering Design Services, Permitting, Environmental Services, Professional Land Surveying, Structural Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering for the New Build deployments in multiple markets. Tectonic has completed, or is working on over 15,000 sites. These sites range from rawland builds to rooftops to colocation sites on existing structures. They consist of coverage, capacity or gap sites. These services are performed in house by Tectonic’s personnel.

Rooftop Real Estate Assets Manager

The project consisted of development of an integrated marketing and leasing program for generation of revenue from the installation of telecommunication facilities from the NYCEDC Brooklyn Army Terminal Rooftop Assets.

Tectonic’s in-house professional team provided a total integrated management plan for rooftop asset management that focused on the following key areas:

Tectonic is providing these services for more than 50 self-supporting towers and monopoles located throughout the Commonwealth. The purpose of the project is to achieve uniform evaluation and documentation of all existing towers that are either owned by the PTC, or on which they have leased space.

Verizon Wireless Generator Projects

Tectonic was retained by Verizon Wireless to provide Turnkey Program Management services for the site acquisition, leasing, permitting, and engineering design of 2,000 generator sites in the North Carolina and South Carolina, Arizona, New Mexico, California, Nevada, and El Paso markets. All services were performed sole source utilizing Tectonic’s in-house staff.

The project had very aggressive time frames. In less than 6 months, Tectonic was able to obtain over 300 building permits for the Verizon Wireless construction manager to start generator construction. This included sites in coastal and historic zones. Due to coastal flood zones, as well as regulatory concerns, Tectonic designed a special containment system which was approved by Verizon Wireless and enabled Verizon Wireless to utilize diesel generators on sites previously thought to be unfeasible for placement in flood plains.
