Tectonic Wins 2019 ACEC NY Platinum Award for Solar Design Project

Tectonic is honored to receive a Platinum Award by the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of New York for one of their architecture and engineering projects in the 52nd Annual Engineering Excellence Awards Competition.

At the annual ACEC-NY Engineering Excellence Awards Gala, to be held on April 13, 2019, Tectonic will receive the prestigious Platinum Award by the ACEC of New York for the Cornell University Tech Campus Sustainable Solar Design Project in the 2019 Engineering Excellence Awards Competition.

As a subconsultant to the solar project developer, EnterSolar, structural engineering services were performed for rooftop solar array installations on “The Bridge Building” and “The Emma and Georgina Bloomberg Center”, at the new Cornell Tech campus at Roosevelt Island in NYC. The buildings are amongst the largest net-zero energy buildings in the United States, with all its power generating through a variety of site-specific strategies to reduce energy demand and utilize renewable energy. The 850kW system is comprised of over 2,200 solar modules, including innovative solar racking, inverter and data monitoring technology.

For over 50 years, ACEC-NY honors firms for their design achievements of superior skill and ingenuity. These awards help publicize the many significant contributions consulting engineers make to the built environment throughout the world.

 

Tectonic Ranked Among the 2018 Top 50 Trenchless Firms in North America

Tectonic was named a Top 50 Trenchless Engineering Design Firm by Trenchless Technology Magazine. The publication ranked Tectonic #35 on their 22nd annual list of firms in North America, making this Tectonic’s 8th consecutive year on the list. Firms were ranked by reported revenue including overall trenchless billings, number of trenchless design specialists and completed projects from 2017.

In the past year, the top 50 trenchless firms completed more than $1.4 billion in trenchless work – a remarkable 46 percent increase from the 11,672 total projects reported from the year before.

Trenchless Technology Magazine has served as the leading publication for the underground infrastructure market for 25 years as well as a communications vehicle for the promotion and development of the trenchless industry. Trenchless installation of pipelines eliminates disturbances to the surrounding area that may result from conventional open-trench excavation. The trenchless industry involves contractors and engineers who specialize in the various trenchless technologies including microtunneling, directional drilling, pipe jacking, auger drilling and other trenchless excavation techniques.

Tectonic Named a Top New York Engineering Firm by Crain’s New York Business

Tectonic has been recognized as one of the 20 largest engineering companies in the New York area. As highlighted in the August 6, 2018 edition of Crain’s New York Business, Tectonic is ranked #20. Tectonic is also one of seventeen New York Building Congress members on the list. This annual list of engineering firms is ranked by the number of New York-based licensed engineers.

 

 

 

 

Tectonic Sponsors Ribbon Cutting for Village of Haverstraw Streetscape Project

On Friday, June 15th, the Village of Haverstraw held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to celebrate the completion of a streetscape project that will make the center of Haverstraw safer for pedestrians. Local officials, as well as members of the community, were present to show their support and enjoy a “Night Under the Stars” in celebration of the occasion.

The $5 million project was focused around improvements on New Main and Main Streets from the village entrance to the Hudson River, including Broadway. New sidewalks, curbs, landscaping, lighting, and signalization improvements helped to facilitate better traffic flow and provide safer pedestrian access points with crosswalks. Tectonic provided construction supervision and inspection services associated with the construction phase activities.

To mark the completion of the project, which started in 2016, town officials and others held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the park on Lincoln Street and Broadway. Tectonic was a proud sponsor of the event.

Tectonic Wins Engineering Award for Rte. 31 Roadway Reconstruction Project in Connecticut

Tectonic was honored by the Connecticut Society of Civil Engineers (CSCE) at the 11th Annual Achievement in Civil Engineering (ACE) Awards Ceremony in May. The ACE Awards recognizes overall contributions of Connecticut Engineers and team members, and commends projects in which significant engineering expertise or innovation is demonstrated.

Tectonic received the 2018 Transportation ACE Award for the ConnDOT (State Project #0032-0130) Route 31 Roadway Reconstruction Project in Coventry, Connecticut.

Tectonic provided construction engineering and inspection services on a section of State Route 31 from north of Stone House Road extending south past School Street in the historic district of Coventry Village. Key features of the project involved roadway reconstruction, culvert replacement, rock cutting, storm drainage and sewer reconstruction, as well as architectural finish work to improve safety conditions of the roadway. Final improvements have enhanced the overall width of the roadway and shoulders, and provided upgraded drainage, improved sightlines, smoother pavement, and roadway protection.

Tectonic ranks #89 on the 2018 Zweig Letter Hot Firm list which recognizes the 100-fastest growing architecture, engineering, planning, and environmental consulting firms in the United States based on revenue growth over a three-year period.
